Recently House of Bert was privileged to be asked to create the look and feel for ‘Music To Die For’, a beautiful new project for anyone affected by the loss of a loved one. Which asks just one thing: ‘Tell us about a piece of music and how it connects you to someone you’ve lost’.

These shared stories are collated on a website we designed (musictodiefor.co.uk) where viewers can read the writers’ memories and listen to the music that inspired them. We’d encourage you to take a look and if you’re able, share your story too.

The creative concept came from our conversations with founders Dr Hazel Harrison & Phillipa Anders which highlighted two insights – that grief has no end, it simply evolves over time and that even within sadness there are still moments of joy and light as memories of your loved one come to mind.

This led us to consider the cyclical nature of music, as although each piece has an end, we listen repeatedly, experiencing different emotions each time, depending on our current state – physically and emotionally. Music, like grief, is not black and white; it contains many shades and colours.

Watch the video to see how each artwork was created.

These artworks live alongside a calm colour palette on the website and beyond. The circular logo and typography was inspired by the classic label designs of 7-inch singles and spins like a record, always readable wherever the music stops.
