It’s not often Bert gets to design a book cover. Thus, I was honoured to be asked by poet Naomi Jaffa, to create the cover for her first full collection of poetry titled, Flying Change.

It is based on a truly wonderful painting Requiem by Naomi’s great-aunt, Hannah Gluckstein (better known as ‘Gluck’). It pictures a young sparrow which is so full of life even in death.

It also perfectly captures the book’s title – a term in dressage where a horse changes its leading legs in mid-air.

Thus it was a delight to hear these poems performed live during the book’s launch at The Cut in Halesworth.
